Golden sun, savory pies and iconic stadiums - what more could an England cricket fan possibly want?

Realistically, they'd hope for an contest for the urn in Australia where they remain in contention to reclaim the urn once the opening games are done.

That will not be happening this time, though, after the hosts' dominant 82-run win in Adelaide left the home side leading three-nil for the fourth consecutive series on their own soil.

England's famous supporters' group, the vocal contingent, have a large group making the journey for the concluding fixtures in Sydney and Melbourne.

In addition, there are organized trips who will celebrate the holidays down under, as well as loved ones heading for a special expedition.

The Disappointed Travelers

A group of four supporters are a prime example.

Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie had their itineraries and entry credentials secured for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "well ahead of time", anticipating a rare England series success.

From afar, they've seen Australia defeat England convincingly in just under two weeks from their house in their hometown.

"Everyone at work has been making comments about it being over for the last two weeks," stated Sam Ryding.

"The hope was that we would have the series on the line still when we got there."

Fading Positivity

There was plenty of positivity about England's chances of breaking a 15-year drought for a victory down under ahead of the tour.

But they are now staring down the barrel of continuing a barren spell in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the next match starts in Melbourne this week.

The England team - and their supporters - will be hoping to sidestep a whitewash.

Alex said the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in recent years had "renewed interest in" the longest format for English supporters.

Yet the fans said they had realistic outlooks for the fourth and fifth Tests - and all they are asking for from the players is "some resilience".

"All analysts points it out, but it all hinges on fortitude. 'The aggressive approach has been turned into a buzzword now that is just, like, unrealistic play," added Rory.

"During a long match, you should apply yourself. Wafting outside 'sixth stump' areas has never been in the fundamentals, and that is mainly the fault the frontline batsmen."

The Remaining Matches

Prompted about he believed England will win a match in this contest, Sam said: "It looks like the Aussies are just too good currently."

"Necessarily, there must be multiple performers that stands up for England and produces a match-winning display."

Regardless of the result, the siblings are still excited about the trip.

"We will have a fantastic experience regardless," said Katie. "We must adopt that attitude."

"Obviously it is disappointing we can't contest the series, but we have spent so much money already."

"We'll enjoy celebrating the holidays in Australia. Additionally, it's our first experience away from home over Christmas."

A schoolteacher, Katie is determined to make the most of the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her Christmas holidays.

"As a backup plan, there's always golf to rely on," she finished.
