Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure that included a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown since 1990, now holds positions as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and providing guidance with the German Football League.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won England's top flight in the previous campaign, but many fans who adore the manager would be thrilled by the possibility that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he explained to his interviewer: “I said I won't manage another team on English soil. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“I’m 58, that means the choice could be mine later on, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on what circumstances would need to occur to tempt his return to the touchline, he revealed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be during downpours for lengthy sessions; No need for interviews repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the team enjoying conversation, is pleasant. We won a lot of games so there was often positive atmosphere in the building. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears for example.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, acknowledging his role due to the changes which secured the championship in the previous season. The team has suffered four in a row in every contest after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the notion of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. An outstanding player. The French striker, incredible player. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly on the loss of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in during his tenure, and its impact at the club. Jota was killed in a road accident alongside his brother in July.

“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the team environment absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss on this topic. A devastating blow for the entire squad as well. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it for poor performances but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Dealing with that individually is difficult. Impossible.”
