Renowned Star Pat Finn, Known For Appearances in Seinfeld and The Middle, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.
American entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved TV shows such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died aged 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles this Monday having undergone treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, according to news outlets.
"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a statement.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Television Career
His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.
He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, portraying a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of hit series, like:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Beyond his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"He guided, supported, and advised many learners throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted publicly.
The actor is survived by his partner Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
