Star Rejects Anti-Vaxxer Position After Narrating Contentious Covid Feature

The "Taken" star has lent his vocal talents to a feature-length documentary that challenges the legitimacy of immunizations and commends one-time health official RFK Jr.

The Documentary's Contentious Origins

Named "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is inspired by a bestselling book written by a controversial scientist, who rose to infamy during the pandemic for allegations that the virus was linked to a bad strain of the flu vaccine.

The publication's writing partner, the executive producer, has also written books with controversial radio host the Infowars host. He recently posted praising Neeson's participation in the project.

A Strong Denial

The team of Neeson have released a response strongly denying claims that he subscribes to anti-vaccine sentiments.

"We all acknowledge that misconduct might be present within the medical sector, but that should never be equated to opposition to vaccines," the statement reads. "Liam is not, and is not, against vaccines. His extensive work with the global charity highlights his long-held support for global immunisation initiatives."

It continued that the performer was not involved in crafting the project's narrative and that questions about its assertions should be directed to the producers.

Key Assertions In the Documentary

In the film, the voiceover provided by Neeson includes several provocative claims:

  • It claims that pro-immunization voices have called for "complete compliance" to health authorities.
  • It argues that "science has become deeply politicised."
  • Kennedy is interviewed stating, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they are not safely tested."
  • The narration takes aim at Covid lockdowns, claiming they caused severe distress that resulted in thousands of lives.
  • On the topic of the immunizations, it cites a report that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "hazardous tests."

Previous Context and Current Disputes

It further cites a 2004 BBC documentary about clinical trials on children, which was later the topic of a formal apology by the broadcaster for unbalanced reporting.

Recently, the political figure called on the Centers for Disease Control to change its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is also referenced in the film, contrary to a new report from the global health body reiterating no such link has been found.

A Previous Position of Support

Differing from the documentary's tone, Neeson has formerly expressed strong support for vaccines in his position as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

Two years ago, he described vaccines as "a remarkable achievement," noting that "The discourse about vaccines in lately has overlooked how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in history."

The film finishes with Neeson's script proclaiming, "This isn't the conclusion of our story. This is the dawn of a fresh chapter."
