The President Calls Families of Shot Guard Soldiers to White House

Former President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Devastating Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their memory.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump addressed reporters. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Support

Community members assembled over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to assist public safety in the capital.

Remembering Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” the principal, the head of her alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to support those in need.”

Memorial plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Government Revisions

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and charges of violent assault while armed.

The incident led the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop granting visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey stated on television.

Attorney general the attorney general informed the program that she also intended to speak to his relatives.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” he informed the audience at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
