NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates includes text commentary for Sunday's games on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary can be heard on select stations covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six in the football calendar , after last week's talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their unbeaten records.

Notable in those games was the number of infractions each committed. Philadelphia did so at crucial times so they kind of beat themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the fourth period against Denver, who play overseas this weekend.

But it was good to see that Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to have that deficit before lead three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, securing the game 21-17.

Denver have the defensive player of the year with CB their star corner. They rank first in goal-line defense, while the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that battle.

They had the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They did not always sending more than four pass rushers but they could plug two LBs in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and send a nickel from the outside.

Early on of the season, we said during a show that the Broncos might emerge as this season's dark horses. They finished the previous year well and excelled of building upon that.

Could Denver be this season's dark horses?

Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up significantly while recent running back their rusher is a player they believe in. He's currently 5th league-wide in ground gains (over 400) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).

I love how the coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

That shows that Denver represent a squad aiming to prioritize the run, because you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in positive down and distances.

It's also benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to pass anywhere, however they don't move in the same way as Nix. He has incredible arm talent, which is different, plus he is so athletic.

His assets include his movement, the capacity to throw on the run, as well as using varied release points to deliver the pass when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He can throw precision throws across the middle and past defenders.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays a lot of composure in the pocket and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He aims to evade being tackled as much as possible and is able pass in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.

If you consistently rush it eats up time and forces the defence to stay in play extended periods, and if you have a mobile QB the defence has to defend the field downfield side to side. It can be exhausting.

Nix has pushed back at Payton during games at times and it seems the coach likes that fire, that he's such a competitor. I think it's exciting for him to have a young quarterback who's kind of like moldable clay. He can really build something up how he wants to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.

Payton has won a championship and has passed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. I think the success the Broncos are experiencing offensively is mostly down to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with the QB aids shape him what he is.

There's no better a better guy guiding you, to assist you during difficult moments and build confidence.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.

Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're working above average, which is a solid position to be in their division. All they need to do to continue this path.

They're really good at embracing their forte, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they must do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad yet to win a game.

Since the NFL started recording turnovers in 1933, this team are the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway in five outings, which is surprising when you think that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.

The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

Following the upcoming matchup, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the division.

It depends upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet because Denver {beat|def
